Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
